A STUDY OF EPOXY¢¥RESIN REPLICA APPLICATIONON THE EVALUATION OF DENTINAL TUBLULE CLOSING EFFECT BY SrC12 CONTAINING DENTIFRICE

Abstract
The dentinal tubule closing effect of strontium chloride containing dentifrice and fluoride iontophoresis for the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity was examined. At first, some specimens which have artificially exposed dentin surface by sectioning extracted teeth has been prepared and then performed tooth brushing to those exposed dentin surfaces with 10% strontium chloride containing dentifrice, and treated fluoride by using an iontophoresing machine. In this experiment, dentinal surfaces were replicated every 0, 1,-3, 6 week by using polyvinylsiloxan rubber impression material and epoxy resin replicating material, and then observed through scanning electron microscope.
The obtained results were as follows.
1. For observing the resolution of replica, there was no difference in dentinal tube size between the dentin surface and replicated resin surface.
2. After the 6 weeks-toothbrushing using 10% strontium chloride containing dentifrice, the size of the exposed dentinal tubules was gradually decreased as the time passed and finally partially closed.
3. In case of applicating fluoride iontcphoresis in every week during the toothbrushing using 10% strontium chloride containing dentifrice, there showed
marked closing and decreasing effect of dentinal tubule during the first 1 week
and in the 6th week, almost every dentinal tubule was closed.

According to. the _experimental results, both toothbrushing with 10% SrC12 contained dentifrice by individual home care method and fluoride iontophoresis by preventive care method have excellent effects on prevention and treatment of hypersensitivity. And also, resin replica technic is considered for a good method to diagnose and study of dentin hypersensitivity.
